Dr. Rebecca Nickell, DO

Dr. Rebecca Nickell believes great healthcare is about more than just treating symptoms, it’s about understanding you as a whole person. As an Osteopathic Physician, she takes a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to health and wellness, helping individuals and families thrive at every stage of life.

After earning her medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, Dr. Nickell fell in love with Colorado while completing her residency at Southern Colorado Family Medicine in Pueblo. Her expertise spans general family medicine, women’s health, osteopathic manipulation, mental health, and weight management. She loves caring for entire families, from young children to grandparents, and values the relationships she builds with her patients over time.

Dr. Nickell’s passion for medicine was sparked by stories of her grandfather, a small-town family physician who cared for his entire community like they were family. That same dedication drives her today, ensuring each patient feels heard, valued, and supported in their health journey.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Nickell enjoys spending time with her three daughters and extended family. She’s an avid reader, a lover of live theater, and a creative spirit who enjoys sewing and designing costumes for the whole family.

Shara Hansen, MSN, FNP-C, MBA

Shara Hansen is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner with more than 25 years of experience in primary care medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and her master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Colorado.

She began her clinical career in private practice in Denver, fully expecting to spend her career as a bedside clinician. This path led her to Take Care Health, where she advanced into executive leadership. Following its integration with Walgreens Healthcare, Shara played a key role in building and scaling innovative models of workplace and retail health, expanding access, and implementing quality and patient safety programs that reached communities across the country.

Even in national leadership roles, Shara has always drawn on her experiences “behind the exam room door.” Her clinical background gives her a unique perspective, grounding strategic initiatives in the realities of patient care and ensuring that systems-level improvements truly serve both patients and providers.

After her years in corporate leadership, Shara returned to independent primary care, where she has combined her executive expertise with her deep commitment to personalized, relationship-based medicine. At Altitude Family & Internal Medicine, she has championed initiatives to strengthen care coordination, improve patient engagement, and elevate quality across the practice. She currently serves as Executive Vice-Chair of the practice and as Director of the Altitude Health Foundation, a nonprofit entity dedicated to advancing primary care, education, and community health.

Her advanced training includes Clinical Nutrition, Anti-Aging Medicine, Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy, Acupuncture, Medical Aesthetics, and Executive Leadership.

Shara values quality, patient-centric, holistic care and believes in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. She is married to her childhood sweetheart and has two beautiful daughters. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, biking, running, swimming, snowshoeing, and snowboarding with her family.
