Spencer “Spence” Walker, MD, completed undergraduate studies in biology and graduate studies in Neurobiology at the University of Texas prior to receiving his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed his training in family medicine at the Southern Colorado Family Medicine Residency Program in Pueblo, Colorado. Following residency, Dr. Walker served in the United States Air Force as an attending physician at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas prior to returning to Colorado and receiving Top Doc and Patients’ Choice awards.
Dr. Walker is board certified in Family Medicine and an active member of the Colorado Medical Society. He provides compassionate, comprehensive and personalized preventive and acute care for all family members of all ages. Dr. Walker enjoys the full spectrum of family medicine, and holds special interests in pediatrics, women’s health, diabetes, and procedures such as skin biopsies, laceration repairs and cyst removals. He believes that building strong relationships with his patients, mutual respect, listening, taking the time to explain procedures, conditions and options, extensive training and experience, and continuing medical education are some of the key factors in providing high quality healthcare. His ability to deliver exceptional patient care with a friendly and down to earth attitude has resulted in patients driving hundred of miles to seek out his continued care.
Dr. Walker resides in Centennial with his wife and son. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball and soccer, watching sports, listening to and studying music, playing guitar, photography, cooking, and reading.
Dr. Hansen earned his medical degree with honors at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency training at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver. Dr. Hansen is the only triple board-certified Primary Care Physician, Clinical Lipidologist, and Nutrition Specialist in the United States. Dr. Hansen has been practicing in Denver since 1999, and in addition to his clinical practice, serves as Medical Director for Altitude Family & Internal Medicine, Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, on the board of directors for Colorado Health Neighborhoods.
Dr. Hansen is a nationally-featured expert on heart disease, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, nutrition, and longevity. He has been featured on NBC’s TodayShow.com and MSNBC and has contributed to many books and publications including Breakthroughs in Natural Healing and Building Foundations for Change from the bestselling “Wake Up and Live the Life You Love” Series. Dr. Hansen’s latest highly anticipated book, Transcending Cholesterol is scheduled for release in 2017.
For his clinical work, Dr. Hansen is proud to be distinguished as a Patients’ Choice Award winner, an honor bestowed to the top 5% of physicians in the United States as voted by patients, for the past 6 years.
Dr. Ashleigh Sartor, MD is a graduate of Swedish Medical Center Family Medicine Residency. Prior to moving to Denver for residency, she received her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, and undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Hope College in Michigan.Dr. Sartor enjoys the opportunity that Family Medicine provides for forming therapeutic relationships with a large variety of patients. Dr. Sartor brings a broad scope of care to Altitude Internal Medicine and active in all aspects of medicine including Women’s Health.
Dr. Sartor is currently completing a second board certification in Functional Medicine. Functional Medicine uses a “whole person” approach to address the underlying causes of disease, engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. She embraces healthy living and healthy cooking and brings this expertise to her patients and as the director of the ‘Elite Medical Weight Loss’ program at Altitude.
Dr. Nicole Hoffman, DO earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 1999, and went on to complete her Family Medicine Residency in both Arizona and Oregon. She has been practicing in the Denver area since 2003. She is on the teaching faculty at many osteopathic medical schools throughout the country and enjoys modeling to up-coming physicians the art of patient care.
Dr. Hoffman feels that Family Medicine allows patients to participate as part of their health care team in an atmosphere that generates trust and confidence. She encourages patients of all ages to ask questions and learn more about their health needs. Dr. Hoffman is well versed in Osteopathic Care and Bio-identical Hormone Treatments, as well as more “traditional” family medical care. She has an avid interest in prevention of disease and works with her patients to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their daily routine.
Shara Hansen is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and her master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Colorado. Shara has been practicing primary care medicine for over 15 years.
She has advanced training in Clinical Nutrition, Anti-aging Medicine, Bio-identical Hormone Therapy, Acupuncture, Medical Aesthetics, and in Executive Leadership. In addition to her clinical practice, Shara is part of the executive leadership team and the director of our nonprofit entity, the Altitude Health Foundation.
Shara believes in providing quality, patient- centered, holistic care to every patient. Shara is married to her childhood sweetheart and has 2 beautiful daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family and spending time outdoors hiking, biking, running, swimming, snowshoeing, and snowboarding.
